Why Soy?
We love soy! Here's why:
The benefits to using and burning soy wax are extensive. First and foremost soy wax is derived from soy beans - a natural resource. Specifically the soy beans that are grown right here in the United States. The wax we use is purified and after harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. It's pretty neat!
Soy candles are non-toxic since they are made of vegetable oil, have a lower melting point (so the wax itself doesn’t get as hot), produce negligible amounts of soot, and release no known carcinogens into the air. Compared to paraffin candles, soy wax candles are much healthier for humans, pets, and the environment. Plus, they clean up easier (just use soap and water) when the wax is spilled onto candle holders, carpet, and furniture pieces.
Its sustainable, meaning, Soy can be renewed and regrown over and over again by hardworking farmers across the US.
Soy candles burn 50% longer than regular candles. Therefore, even though soy wax candles are sometimes more expensive than paraffin wax candles to buy, they are still more cost-effective in the long run. Furthermore, soy candles burn evenly, leaving almost no excess wax on the sides of the glass - woo!!
Soy is a living organism. It continues to expand, contract and change from its current form. It may also look frosted. Frosting occurs when the soy heats or cools rapidly and is a natural process. These ‘flaws’ are normal and it is a clear indication that you have purchased a 100% all natural soy candle. Imperfection adds character, amirite? ;)
We freaking LOVE soy wax and we hope you do too!
